Quick 1-Hour Homemade Sweet Buttermilk Rolls
Ingredients
- 2¾ cups all-purpose flour
- 3 tablespoons granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 package instant yeast (1 packet = 2 and ¼ teaspoons)
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- ¼ cup buttermilk
- ½ cup water
- 1 large egg
Instructions
Add flour, sugar, salt, and yeast in a large bowl and mix until combined. Set aside.
Combine the buttermilk, water, and butter and microwave until the butter is melted (about 45 seconds). Stir the heated buttermilk mixture into the flour mixture. Add the egg and knead with a stand mixer or by hand for 3-4 minutes or until the dough is no longer sticky. Place in a lightly greased bowl and let rest for about 10 minutes.
Once the dough has rested, transfer to a floured surface and roll it out in a 15×9 inch rectangle. Cut into 8 pieces for large rolls or 12 for smaller rolls and place in a lightly oiled pan. Cover with a towel and rise until slightly puffed, about 35 minutes.
Bake in a 350 degree oven until golden brown, or about 15-20 minutes. Brush tops with melted butter.
